I’ve had a project idea for a little while now, and this year I’ve decided to attempt at it. Starting with Europe. Generally speaking about the project, think Anthony Bourdain’s "No Reservations" or "Parks Unknown" (Food + Culture), but add: Nutrition, Health, Sustainability, and Lifestyle. I'm talking something that existed, and I'm making it better.
If you know me, this is what my life is and had been all about. Both professionally and personally. And in the root of this is my life motto: We are all life-long students; the world is our classroom and experience is our teacher. Lets share it.
I would be the key person in front of the camera, and I need a key person behind the camera. I’ve reached out to some media/videography/cinematography minded friends to be my “partner-in-crime.” I or someone thought about you also, of course. This is why you're here.
I’m looking for someone to be my travel buddy throughout the trip. To travel with and be the "co-creative master mind“ for lack of better terms. I’m looking for the genius behind the camera. Someone that has an keen eye for shots, angles, lighting, and creative filming as a whole. Someone who can multitask, and do a lot with very little resources.
The trip would be to all, or some, of the following countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, and Russia. It would be a 4-8 week trip. Depending on what contacts that I have that actually pan out to something worth while (I'm working on this now). We would work with other known Chefs, people chasing/changing the food/culinary culture of the country towards health, sustainability, and healthy lifestyle. Among other things, I would be cooking with chefs, kids, communities, and farmers. Interviewing them and others involved. Showing what some cities in that country has to offer. The details and focus of this project would be finalized by me by early February. Or collaborated with the person(s) traveling with me. Meaning, you.
There will be no "pay,” per se. The “pay” would be the experience, knowledge acquired, networking. The return of investment (ROI) for you would be via sweat equity in the potentiality of the project becoming something more after the trip. I need someone who can financially support themselves to go and also during the trip. I would need someone who just absolutely loves doing it, and would have immense pleasure and gratitude just for the adventure that being part of this trip/project will produce. With the potential of it getting much bigger. Someone who works hard and dreams big. I need someone who is a frugal traveler, huge adventurer, unafraid of challenges and unafraid of attempting to make the impossible, possible.
I should be able to provide housing/lodging at most locations we go to via friends/contacts I have. So that would help cut down cost. Any other network/contact that could be brought into the equation is wonderful. We should not be limited, although we should be focused.
Some of the media equipment I have that can be used for this are: Canon 70D, Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM & EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lenses, Mavic Pro Drone with extra batteries and lens filters, tripod, monopod, gorilla tripod, GoPro Hero 4+, small DSLR stabilizing gimbal, Rhode Video Mic, one label mic, Zoom H1 portable audio recorder, among other things.
I have pretty good video and editing knowledge, so can definitely be a help in the process. Here are a couple example of videos I created, shot, and edited by myself.
At the end of the trip, and as much as possible during the trip, we would produce media material(s) that would be all over social media and YouTube. We would also produce a “pilot series” with good enough quality to be presented to producers and TV stations in the U.S., Brazil, and Europe for consideration.
At the end of it all, it may open doors to a dream I've had for years…OR it might just have been another attempt, simply a good time and cool adventures thought Europe. Everyone involved need to be 100% OK with either outcomes. It should be a lot of work, but a lot of fun.
